The Tea Bag Series amounts to three months of study sketches, analysing the material behavior of torn tea bag packets. What was initially a spontaneous early-morning sketch, developed into an appreciation for mundane objects that the mind typically disregards.

Similar to Peter Dreher's, Day by Day, Good Day, the nuanced characteristics of each tea bag is revealed through repetition. Whether the packet is paper, plastic, or foil-wrapped determines how it reflects light and reacts to being torn. These tears can be categorised in three ways: detached, straight across, and V-shaped. While there are more variations, these three were the most prominent.

In addition to the packets' physical attributes, there are also stylistic shifts across the sketches from realistic and stylised representation, to heavy and light line weights, and from graphite to colored pencil. Each artistic decision was made in the moment based on the mood surrounding the day's sketch.

Although it would have been nice to see a full year of the series, it was contained to three months, preserving it as a triptych with the artistic energy from whence it began.
